“ARE YOU SAVED?”BY STEVE NIEMEIERThe story of the Philippian jailer in Acts 16:25-34 is an amazing story. Paul and Silas have been imprisoned because of their stand for Jesus the Christ. While in prison they pray and sing hymns to God. Other prisoners listened and then an earthquake happens and the doors are opened and the prisoner's chains are loosened. This would mean certain death for the jailer as he was responsible that these prisoner's would not escape no matter what! Yet, an earthquake happened. What would he do? He decided to draw his sword and kill himself. This would be better he thought than facing his superiors and the torture and humiliation they would bring upon him. However, Paul called out with a loud voice and told him that all the prisoners were there and he should do himself no harm. This impressed the jailer so much that he wanted to be saved. Paul told him that he needed to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and all who were in his household and they were baptized. They put on Christ in baptism. They followed the plan that God had set up for one to obtain salvation throught His Son. Have you followed that plan? Will it take an earthquake for you to realize who God is and what He has done for you through His Son, Jesus Christ? Are you saved? There are so many who want to be saved but on their terms. The Philippian jailer understood that for him to be saved it would be on God's terms. Time is of the essence for all of us. Being with God through His Son is the only way for salvation. Have you been baptized into Christ? Are you saved? |
