“IS JESUS ALL THE WORLD TO YOU?”

STEVE HIGGENBOTHAM

According to history, the apostles met terrible persecutions and eventually met with painful deaths, sealing their faith with their own blood.

Matthew was slain by the sword in Ethiopia, Mark died after being dragged through the streets of Alexandria; Luke was hanged upon an olive tree in Greece; John was boiled in oil, but miraculously survived, to be banished to the isle of Patmos where he wrote the book of Revelation; James was beheaded by Herod; Peter, was crucified with his head downward in Rome; Bartholomew was flayed alive; Andrew was bound to a cross where he preached until he died; Thomas was run through with a lance; James the son of Alphaeus was thrown from the pinnacle of the temple and then beaten to death; Matthias was stoned and then beheaded; and Paul, after various tortures and persecutions, was beheaded by the Emperor Nero.

The apostles were men of ordinary backgrounds just like we are; yet they were willing to sacrifice their lives for their faith.  Question:  How willing are you to make sacrifices for the cause of Christ?  Is Jesus truly “All the World to You?”

“And who is he that can harm you, if ye be zealous of that which is good?  But even if ye should suffer for righteousness sake, blessed are ye.”  I Peter 3:13

WHAT IS BROTHERLY LOVE?

AUTHOR UNKNOWN

It's Silence when your words would hurt,
It's Patience when your brother's curt,
It's Deafness when some gossip flows,
It's Compassion for a brother's woes,
It's Courage when misfortune falls,
Its's Firmness when duty calls,
It's Willingness to help another,
It's Trusting and especially a brother,
It's Restitution made when due,
It's Forgiving when asked of you.
Never fear criticism when you are right!
